I added the first part that says, “Live Your Life.” A more famous person than I, Abe Lincoln, coined the second part of the title.

I thought about President Lincoln’s quote over the weekend because someone whom I knew passed away. He was very young, 39 years old. My definition of young increases every year, but 39 is truly young by modern standards. Amir was his name. He was a tennis player. He expired on the tennis court. It was quick. It was shocking and totally unexpected.

Amir’s passing left many of us in a somber mood. It made me wonder how many things I have in my life that are open, unfinished business. And to that point, why should they all be business anyway? So I reconsidered… How many things do I have in my life that are open, unfulfilled pleasures, dreams, goals, and desires? How many kind words are in me that have not been vocalized? How many people have I not helped? How many wounds have I not tried to heal? Have I reached out enough to others? To my family? To my friends? Even to my enemies?

I know it’s corny. I know it’s trite. But let me say it anyway — Live your life. It’s only because of God, luck, karma, or destiny, that we even have this day to ponder. So live your life. I hope to see again another day.

God bless.

One Response to “Live Your Life: It’s Not The Years In Your Life That Counts, It’s The Life In Your Years”

My prayers for your full life go out to you as you have certainly helped me to live a fuller one.
I would like to ask every person I meet – what does it mean to them to live your life.
