There was an article today in The Colorado Springs Gazette that is titled, Kick bad habits and avoid a beauty train wreck. Basically, the article talked about how we tend to develop bad habits in our 20s that make us look old and ugly 10, 20, and 30 years later.
Here is the list of bad habits that they cited:
- Wearing high heels everyday. (I guess this only applies to women, as does number 5 below.)
- Binge drinking.
- Smoking.
- Tanning without enough sunscreen lotion.
- Wearing heavy earrings too often.
So I thought, five bad habits is not too bad. I wonder how many more I could list if I gave it some thought? It’d be big list, I’m sure.
But rather than writing down the specific bad habits, I thought it may be better to list the types of bad habits that we all face.
Here goes:
- Bad habits in the workplace
- Bad habits related to health
- Bad habits in sports
- Bad habits that are illegal
- Financial bad habits
- Addictive bad habits
- Dangerous bad habits
- Emotional bad habits
- Bad habits that irritate others
- Kids and bad habits
- Social bad habits
That’s my list. Can you think of others?
Now onto the next question. Is it better to fight a bad habit head-on? Or is it better to displace a bad habit with a good habit?
I studied this and wrote down my findings in a series of articles. I also created an e-book on bad habits. Go to http://www.karmaofsuccess.com

Enlightening, I’m sure heavy earrings and smoking will make you pretty ugly later in life, it did for my mum XD. I’m not sure on the high heel thing.
Well I’m gonna stay good looking, I don’t drink, smoke or wear heels thats for sure.
Heres a couple of ideas.
Bad habits in public.
Bad habits at emotional gatherings, like Weddings and funerals.

Well that was very interesting to read. I fully understand why they those 5 bad habits are built in the 20’s and make you look worse as you get older, as I live in a superficial city and see this everyday! I am not sure that I would have been so broad with my own list though. Because that can cover so much and many would most likely over lap somehow.
To even continue listing them would be pointless, because as you mentioned, there would be a very long list.

Are you placing ‘bad habit’ as somethhing that is bad in the eyes of society or are you placing ‘bad habit’ as something that is self destructive to the individual as they are cleary to seperate things and I think that your list crosses over the two?
